DIG meets communities where they are, with no prerequisites or preconditions for entry to our program. Once graduated, DIG farmers are connected with peer organizations that support them with additional knowledge, services, and opportunities. These new networks and relationships support farmers emotionally, and practically, for a lifetime.
While many peer organizations focus on similar missions and target the poor, women, or small-holder farmers, there are few, if any, who continually embrace the complicated challenges of the uniquely marginalized. Fewer still who center that work in building community around those vulnerabilities.
By participating in the DIG program, farmers experience a greater sense of belonging, value, and connectedness within their community.
Our success is linked to our ability to listen, and adapt our programs to meet the unique challenges, needs, wants and desires of each community we serve. Ultimately, this work is about building relationships and trust, and finding a way to move forward together.
